Medical Director Pediatric Burn/Trauma Intensive Care Service

The Division of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking a full-time intensivist to join our faculty as Assistant Professor (WOT), Associate Professor (WOT), or Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding, on the Clinician-Scholar track or Faculty-Scientist track to serve as Medical Director of the Pediatric Burn/Trauma Intensive Care Service  at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Duties include overseeing clinical, educational, and quality improvement activities of the Harborview Medical Center Pediatric Burn/Trauma Intensive Care Service in collaboration with leadership teams from the Trauma, Neurosurgical, Burns, and General Pediatrics services at Harborview Medical Center.

The HMC Pediatric Burn/Trauma Intensive Care Service provides comprehensive care to over 350 critically injured and burned children annually from across the Pacific Northwest. The position includes providing direct patient care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Units at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Harborview Medical Center. The successful candidate will be expected to support the department's commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

Applicants should have demonstrated administrative leadership experience.  Clinical experience in a Level 1 trauma center is essential.

Opportunities are available for research and collaboration with scientists at University of Washington and the Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

Associate Professors and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors $17,062 - $25,343 per month ($204,742 - $307,112 annually), Associate Professors $20,036 - $30,054 per month ($240,433 - $360,649 annually), Professors $24,063 - $36,095 per month ($288,762 - $433,144 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan.

Qualifications

  • An MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) degree; an MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.
  • US Board certification or US Board eligibility in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • Completion of a pediatric residency.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
