Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist
The University of Miami Health System, Miller School of Medicine is initiating a search for a Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist.
This is a full-time faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (Clinical Pediatrics) within the Department of Pediatrics. He/she will serve as attending physician responsible for the care of critically ill and stepdown pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patients, including those with heart failure, or on mechanical circulatory support receiving care in the current 30-bed CICU. Service time will be commensurate with the Division needs with a benchmark of 14-16 weeks, including the opportunity to work in the medical/surgical PICU for those with appropriate certification. This position entails a commitment to teaching pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology fellows, advanced practice providers, and nursing and other unit-based staff. He/she is strongly encouraged to pursue basic science or clinical research interests, which will require efforts to obtain outside grant funding wherever possible.
He/she will be expected to participate in various training and educational activities, and he/she will have a leading role in quality improvement and care process initiatives. In addition, he/she will contribute to the creation of clinical practice plans and protocols while participating in simulation-based team performance and skills enhancement activities.
Desired Qualifications:
• MD or DO degree required
• Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics
• Board certified/eligible in pediatric cardiology with formal advanced clinical training in cardiac intensive care medicine (minimum of 12 months)
• Significant cardiac critical care experience
• Florida medical license (or be eligible)
