****PICU Attending at UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital****

Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking an additional PICU Attending to join our Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine!

Both experienced Intensivists and Fellows in their final year of training are encouraged to apply

We are specifically looking for a collegial, clinically well-trained Intensivist who is interested in substantially contributing to our clinical and academic missions. This can include traditional research (basic, translational, clinical and/or data science), education science, quality improvement/implementation science, and clinical excellence/leadership.

Clinical Highlights:
***You would be joining a group of 12 Pediatric Intensivists (plus 5 additional Cardiac Intensivists)
***Our 20 bed PICU cares for ~1600 critically ill or injured children each year with a wide variety of patients in all medical and surgical sub-specialties, including bone marrow and solid organ transplants
***Only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in our region
***Active ECMO program
***We also run our Pediatric Sedation Unit, one of only 25 units in the country denoted as a "Center of Excellence in Pediatric Sedation" by the Society of Pediatric Sedation.
***A separate Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit opened in Fall 2023 and is covered by the Division of Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care

Are you a clinician-education scientist?
You will have opportunities to work with medical students from Case Western School of Medicine and the Lerner College of Medicine, residents in Pediatrics and other specialties (Emergency Medicine, Med-Peds, etc.), and Fellows. We have 9 PICU Fellows (3 per year), plus Fellows in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Pediatric Anesthesia, and Pediatric Emergency Medicine also rotate through the PICU and the PSU. Mentorship is available from successful education scientists within Rainbow and the larger University Hospitals and Case Western systems. We opened a Simulation Lab within the PICU in 2024 for in situ education.

Are you a clinician-QI scientist?
You will have opportunities to work in an institution with a long-standing history of innovative, multi-disciplinary quality improvement work. Our Department Chair, Dr. Marlene Miller, and Vice Chair of Quality, Dr. Charles Macias, are both nationally recognized leaders in QI work. Continuing education in QI methodology and support services are available from the Pediatric Quality and Safety team. Mentorship and leadership opportunities are also available.

Are you a more traditional clinician-scientist?
You will find a prime environment for success. The Department of Pediatrics is consistently ranked in the top 30 in NIH funding, and the University is home to an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative. The Rainbow PICU is a member of both PALISI and CPCCRN. There are support services (e.g. research coordinators, regulatory experts, biostatisticians, etc.) available through the Division, the hospital, and/or the university. Multi-center data for hypothesis-generating epidemiologic work is available through PHIS and through VPS/VPICU. Several members of the Division are active researchers, including the Director of the PICU Clinical, Basic & Translational Research Program, Dr. Kenneth Remy. Support from other research leaders within the Department, hospital and university is also available for further career development.

Supplementing clinical responsibilities will be a faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine with rank commensurate with experience and credentials.
