The senior fellow will have exposure to pre-and post-operative care of children with complex congenital heart disease, heart failure management, ECMO, ventricular assist devices, and transplantation.
The senior fellow's educational program will be tailored to the individual's prior experience and skills. All fellows will have at least 6 months of dedicated service time in the CICU. For those with prior cardiology experience, the remainder of the clinical experience will focus on critical care medicine, airway management, and other intensive care interventions. For those with prior critical care experience, the remainder of the clinical experience will focus on developing skills in cardiology, such as echocardiography, electrophysiology, and cardiac catheterization. In addition, all fellows will have elective time. Participation in research is expected during your fellowship.
The critical care division includes a multi-disciplinary team including eight critical care physicians, ten nurse practitioners and physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, respiratory therapists, speech with occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
