Qualifications:
- Candidate should be dual-boarded/board eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care medicine with 1 year advanced training in Cardiac Critical Care or Pediatric Cardiology with an additional year in CVICU/ CICU.
Responsibilities
Candidate should have the ability to lead a diverse group, to work with hospital and academic department partners using a collaborative approach, success in promoting scholarship and funding, and the ability to mentor young faculty
- Clinical responsibilities: Will include clinical time in the CVICU, working with multidisciplinary team, be part of team developing and implementation of care protocols.
- Will be encouraged to actively participate in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program.
- Educational responsibilities: Will include supervision, instruction, and mentoring of pediatric residents, and medical students, as well as dedicated CVICU advanced practice providers
- Research: Clinical research opportunities, development of research programs.
- Candidates will be strongly encouraged to initiate and/or be part of ongoing QI projects.
Future direction for Congenital Heart Program at Connecticut Children's Hospital (depending on interest) :
Candidate may choose to actively help support and develop
- Step down unit /intermediate unit to help provide continued safe care to cardiac patients in collaboration with the inpatient cardiologist team.
- Advanced heart failure
- Pediatric pulmonary hypertension.
- A ventricular assist device and heart transplant program.
- Neurodevelopment in patients with congenital cardiac disease and advanced technologies.
