CVICU-APP Opportunity, Hartford, Connecticut.

The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center seeks an additional full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP), which includes physician assistants (P.A.-C) or nurse practitioners (N.P.) to join our multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients in pediatric cardiac critical care setting. Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is a 187-bed, free-standing children’s hospital with an 18 bed PICU/CVICU and 72 bed NICU located in Hartford, Connecticut.

Responsibilities include admitting, diagnosing, treating or consulting on neonates, children, adolescents and adults with congenital or acquired heart disease (per hospital policy).

The APP will have the knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage children with life-threatening illnesses and injuries. These include, but not limited to, conditions that cause respiratory, circulatory, neurologic, renal, or hepatic failure, severe infectious, hematologic and immune disorders. In addition, privileges include care of children needing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, stabilization during transport, complex pre-and post-operative care, and advanced therapies such as ECMO and CRRT. This role requires an increased level of accountability, good communication skills, flexibility, and motivation. This is primarily a clinical position, but the ideal candidate will be involved in other activities, such as teaching, quality improvement, clinical program development, etc. Our philosophy is to provide evidence-based, high-intensity, family-centered, compassionate care.
