Job Description: The Baylor College of Medicine and Christus Children's are seeking to recruit two additional Board certified/Board eligible Pediatric Critical Care Medicine physician for the Division. Division of Critical Care currently consists of 10 ICU physicians (8.5FTE) and 7 advanced practice practitioners who care for critically ill children in the 26-bed multidisciplinary PICU and Pediatric Cardiac ICU. The division also staffs the 14 bedded intermediary care unit (IMC).
Clinical work will be within Christus Children's which is in San Antonio, Texas. Critical care physicians will actively participate in educating and training residents and medical students. In addition to clinical care, participation in medical education, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly activity is strongly encouraged. Faculty candidates with extra training in cardiac critical care or neurocritical care are preferred.
Christus Children's serves as a only freestanding, tertiary subspecialty regional referral and pediatric care center for the San Antonio and South Texas regions. Christus Children's offers 200+pediatric beds, including main campus ER, Level III Pediatric Trauma Center, 2 free standing ERs (10000 visits), and 60-bed level IV Neonatal ICU. The potential for research activity is available via numerous local funding sources, in conjunction with the Christus Children's Max and Minnie Tomerlin Voelcker Clinical Research Center, which houses core laboratory and other functions.
