Department of Pediatrics - Division of Critical Care
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Critical Care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a physician who is board-certified/board-eligible in pediatric critical care medicine. Applicants with more than three years of PICU experience are encouraged to apply. Children's of Mississippi at UMMC has a total of 32 private pediatric intensive care rooms (20 medical surgical ICU and 12 CICU) and 88 private neonatal intensive care rooms. Cardiovascular surgeons at Children's of Mississippi Heart Center performs approximately 180+ complex heart surgeries per year who are supported by several PICU/PCICU and cardiologists offering innovative interventional procedures, advanced imaging, electrophysiology, heart failure and transplant services.
The candidate will be joining a team of 11 pediatric intensivists and 10 nurse practitioners. This position offers excellent early career growth opportunities including committee participation at university level and several leadership opportunities at divisional and departmental level. Our hospital is the only children's hospital in the state of Mississippi and admits approximately 1,900 patients per year to the ICU and approximately 400 cardiac ICU admissions annually. The pediatric emergency room sees an average of 50,000 visits per year. We have several pediatric subspecialties including pediatric cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics, infectious disease, neurology, surgical specialities, and others.
The position will be located at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Children's of Mississippi includes the Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower, opened in November 2020, and the Blair E. Batson Tower, opened in 1997.
Applicant must possess strong clinical skills, interested in research activities, and active participation in resident and fellow education. Leadership opportunities available based on interest, qualifications, and expertise. Applicant must possess a medical degree and must have completed a pediatrics residency and fellowship in pediatric cardiology or critical care. Applicant must be licensable in Mississippi.
