Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – or – Physician Assistant

 

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
As a leading provider of pediatric cardiology services, Children’s Minnesota is the largest pediatric cardiovascular program in Minnesota, renowned for its commitment to excellence in pediatric cardiac care. Our CVICU is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest technology and staffed by a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled physicians, APPs, and nurses.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Provide expert clinical care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including pre-and post-operative management, hemodynamic stabilization, and complex respiratory support.
  • Perform advanced procedures, including but not limited to arterial and central line placement, endotracheal intubation, and chest tube insertion.
  • Collaborate closely with attending physicians, surgeons, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide coverage for day, night, and weekend shifts, contributing to a 24/7, high-acuity environment – a service week model to mirror the Attending MD enhances continuity of care for the patients and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate program.
  • Current national certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
  • Ideally 1-2 years of experience working in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit or a comparable high-acuity setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of pediatric cardiology, critical care medicine, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Proficiency in performing advanced procedures.
  • BLS and PALS certification required.
  • Fellowship training in pediatric critical care or pediatric cardiology preferred
