Job Description:
CHKD/ CSG is seeking a Full Time Pediatric Intensive Care BC/BE physician.
Candidates with Cardiac Intensive Care experience and training will be given preference in both interviewing and hiring.
Enjoy a high quality of life in coastal Virginia. The successful candidate will have easy access to the beaches of Virginia Beach and Norfolk, the Eastern Shore, North Carolina's Outer Banks, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Coastal Virginia boasts reasonable cost of living throughout the region and is home to the world's largest naval base.
The pediatric intensive care unit at CHKD, the only free-standing and independent children's hospital in Virginia, consists of 32-beds with an average daily census of 19. Averaging 1200 admissions per year with a nearly 50/50 split medical and surgical patients, we care for the full spectrum of severely ill and injured children in a multi-disciplinary approach. Together with Eastern Virginia Medical School, CSG and CHKD operate that largest pediatric residency training program in Virginia. The residents contribute to our team consisting of dedicated clinical pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers, chaplain, child life specialists, discharge coordinator, respiratory therapists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians. The current critical care coverage model consists of two daytime teams, 8 FTE Board-certified/eligible pediatric intensivists with 24/7 in-house coverage, and 5 APPs who help days and nights.
We have an active ECMO program, a busy Trauma service and all medical and surgical specialties represented.  You will be joining a physician-owned, Children’s Specialty Group, PLLC which also serves as the Eastern Virginia Medical School Department of Pediatrics.  The group is devoted to the best clinical care of our patients, active participation in policies, procedures and advocacy in an environment conducive to an excellent work-life balance.  At this time, we cannot consider J-1 Visa applicants.
We are increasing our congenital heart disease program and have hired a second senior surgeon to assist with this. We partner with the University of Virginia in our Congenital Cardiac Surgery program and care for post-operative cardiac patients as part of our PICU population.
