Job Description: Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full Professor position in either the non-tenure Clinician Educator track or the Tenure track.
Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric critical care medicine. The successful applicant will be accomplished in the area of academic administration, faculty recruitment, and clinical and academic program planning. The position serves as the Anesthesiologist-in-Chief and department chair of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in Pediatric Anesthesiology and ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure is required.
Teaching responsibilities may include oversight of premier fellowship programs and developing systems for mentoring faculty in the department to promote productive, rewarding careers and academic advancement.
Clinical responsibilities may include clinical practice commensurate with board certification and training.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leadership of a premier pediatric anesthesiology and critical care medicine department with over 150 faculty. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a career with considerable academic stature and a strong record of scholarship.
The candidate should have experience in a comparably large and complex academic medical center to quickly grasp the scale of CHOP's clinical and research programs. The candidate will bring an outstanding track record of developing effective relationships with hospital leadership and other specialties to implement ambitious clinical and research agendas. The candidate must be able to establish credibility among faculty at CHOP and across the Perelman School of Medicine. The candidate must also demonstrate a personal style that facilitates communication, collaboration, and inclusivity.
