The division of Pediatric Critical Care at BronxCare Health System is seeking a BC/BE pediatric critical care intensivist. Experienced individual preferred. There will be clinical and departmental/administrative responsibilities. The clinical responsibilities revolve around the PICU, which is a 5-bed unit adjacent to a 20 bed pediatric inpatient floor which is manned by BC/BE hospitalists. You will provide specialized medical care to critically ill infants, children, adolescents and young adults. You will be working and teaching residents in an ACGME accredited program. You will be responsible for daily rounds and care of the patients in the PICU. On call may be done from home but you may need to return to the hospital as needed for critically ill patients.
The clinical services provide a span of modalities of life-sustaining therapies including mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring and support. Care will be coordinated with a multidisciplinary approach. You will work with residents, PICU nurses, respiratory therapists, pediatric pharmacists, social workers, a child life specialist and other healthcare professionals. You will act as a coordinator of care with different subspecialists as needed. You will participate in medical round, conferences, quality improvement and educational activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills. You will communicate effectively with patients and their families and provide updates on their medical condition and treatment plans. The candidate should have potential for academic growth, provide patient/team-centered care, evidence based approach, teaching skill and adaptability.
