UMC Children’s Hospital of Nevada, Section of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine is actively recruiting 1 BC/BE Intensivist to join a current faculty of 6 Pediatric Intensivists. The PICU is a multi-disciplinary 14-bed state-of-the-art unit that serves as an acute medical, surgical and trauma unit with about 1000 admissions per year. A 6-bed Intermediate Care Unit is located just adjacent to the PICU, and is also managed by the PICU Intensivists. This fully integrated program provides a full range of subspecialty services, including rescue Pediatric ECMO. Our hospital is the only Level 1 Trauma Center, and the only certified Burn Center for the state of Nevada, with referrals from Arizona, California and Utah. We also have a rapidly expanding, dedicated Pediatric Sedation Unit managed by the Pediatric Intensivists and provide more than 800 sedations per year. Other specialties that complement the PICU service include a Pediatric Hospitalist service, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit service, a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, and a Critical Care Transport team.
The position requires strong clinical and teaching skills. Responsibilities will include clinical coverage of PICU, PIMC and Pediatric Sedation Units, participation in program development, and training of Pediatric and Emergency Medicine residents and medical students who rotate through the PICU. Academic affiliation with the University Of Nevada Las Vegas School Of Medicine will increase opportunities for academic endeavors and teaching. Faculty appointment is available with the UNLV School of Medicine. We are currently unable to sponsor J1 Visa applicants.
