The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) seeks applications for a full-time faculty position in the Pediatric Critical Care Complex at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. The position includes an appointment at an appropriate rank in the UTHSC School of Medicine on a non-tenure faculty track. The ideal candidate should be board-certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and have completed/completing advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Neurocritical Care. Applicants with 3-5 years of general PCCM clinical experience are also encouraged to apply.

The Pediatric Critical Care Complex at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital comprises of a 20-bed PICU, a 6-bed dedicated Neurocritical Care Unit (set to reopen in 2024), and a 12-bed IMCU (set to expand to 15 beds in 2024). The Critical Care Complex at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital provides ECMO support for children of all ages, supports a Level 1 Trauma Center, and serves the critical care needs of a busy, tertiary care Neuroscience Center of Excellence. The Pediatric ICU received the meritorious Beacon Award, and our institution is designated as an ELSO Center of Excellence. The Critical Care division supports a well-established fellowship training program with a vision to train clinician scientists while providing them with a variety of clinical and academic exposure at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Neuroscience Center and Heart Institute among other clinical programs are ranked among the top pediatric programs nationwide. U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospital recognizes Le Bonheur as one of the best children's hospitals in the country.

The successful candidate will join a group of faculty members with diverse clinical experience and additional specialized training in neurocritical care, cardiac critical care, and palliative care, along with a team of APNs. S/he will actively participate in initiatives empowering physician and nursing care through neurocritical care education and sub-specialization. The position involves active clinical practice and maintenance of skills in addition to academic responsibilities. Primary objectives include facilitating, and supporting the provision of standardized, streamlined, high-quality intensive care in addition to specialized care in neurocritical care. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills, and the readiness to collaborate in an inter-professional environment. Training of pediatric critical care fellows as well as participation in quality improvement, research, national registries, and multi-institutional studies are considered part of our academic mission.

Le Bonheur Children's Hospital qualifies as a Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program-approved Facility by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). Eligible clinicians providing pediatric medical subspecialty, pediatric surgical specialty, or child and adolescent mental and behavioral health care including substance use disorder prevention and treatment services may apply to the Pediatric Specialty LRP up to $100,000 at HRSA (https://bhw.hrsa.gov/funding/apply-loan-repayment/pediatric-specialty-lrp)
