    • To encourage even more scientific abstract submissions and to offset travel expenses for presentation at the AAP National Conference & Exhibition (NCE) in October 2012 in New Orleans, and at future NCEs, the AAP Section on Critical Care (SOCC) Executive Committee is pleased to announce establishment of SOCC NCE Travel Grants. The criteria for the grants has been added to the online abstract criteria here.

      NEW! Travel grants will be awarded for up to 3 trainees and nurses of up to $1,000 each. Abstract submissions focusing on patient safety, education, and quality outcomes are highly encouraged. Travel award decisions will be made after abstracts have been scored. The highest scoring trainee(s) or nurse(s) submissions will receive the awards. The award may be used to cover expenses related to NCE registration, airfare, and hotel.

    • The AAP Section on Critical Care (SOCC) is pleased to announce availability of small grants for young investigators for projects devoted to education in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and outcomes of quality and safety initiatives in the PICU.

      Fellows or junior faculty (5 years or less after completion of fellowship) are eligible for awards of up to $3,000 for one year. Additional award details are available and an online application with supporting materials can be submitted.

    The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, PCICS, was formed to provide an optimum forum to promote excellence in pediatric cardiac critical care medicine. We have joined together from diverse backgrounds, organized a professional society, and now launch our inaugural membership campaign. The Society seeks international participation by healthcare professionals dedicated to acquiring knowledge and improving practice for our critically ill patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.
