      The AAP Section on Critical Care (SOCC) is pleased to announce availability of two small grants for young investigators for projects devoted to education in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and outcomes of quality and safety initiatives in the PICU.

      Fellows or junior faculty (5 years or less after completion of fellowship) are eligible for awards of up to $3,000 for one year. Additional award details are available online at http://www2.aap.org/sections/critcare/SmallGrantDesc2013.pdf. This link also provides information about the application process and the evaluation criteria.

      Complete and print the online application form, also attached, at: http://www2.aap.org/sections/critcare/SmallGrandApp2013.pdf and e-mail it along with all other required documentation to Richard Mink, MD, MACM at rmink@labiomed.org by April 12, 2013.

      Funding available starting July 1, 2013.

      Call for Abstracts: Online abstract submission opened May 1, 2013. Electronic submission deadline is August 9th, 11:00am EST.

      We encourage submissions in all facets of research that relate to the care of critically ill child from all disciplines including (but not limited to) physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and trainees. Abstracts of superior quality will be selected for presentation. Abstracts will be graded based on scientific significance and quality of research, design, and data analysis. A small subset of abstracts will be selected for oral platform presentation.

    The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, PCICS, was formed to provide an optimum forum to promote excellence in pediatric cardiac critical care medicine. We have joined together from diverse backgrounds, organized a professional society, and now launch our inaugural membership campaign. The Society seeks international participation by healthcare professionals dedicated to acquiring knowledge and improving practice for our critically ill patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.
