The Childrens Medical Center of Brooklyn seeks a third physician
board certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care to join 2 recently
recruited pediatric intensivists in a newly created Division of Pediatric
Critical Care. The Division also includes 3 physician's assistants and
is adding another and a Clinical Nurse Specialist. This position can
be available immediately.
The Childrens Medical Center of Brooklyn provides ICU care at both
University Hospital of Brooklyn and geographically contiguous Kings
County Hospital Center which comprise one of the largest medical complexes
and the principal pediatric teaching hospitals of S.U.N.Y. Health Sciences
Center at Brooklyn (SUNY HSCB). These hospitals provide primary care
for the 600,000 residents of north central Brooklyn and is a referral
site as the only medical school in the entire borough of over 2 million.
The pediatric department supervises the training of approximately 90
residents and fellows. Both the Department and the Division are in a
phase of rapid growth.
Intensivists have not previously provided care and direction at this
center; however, the development and success of a Division of Pediatric
Critical Care is now a high priority of the department and the institution,
so this is a unique opportunity to help create and develop a program
today in a major academic center with excellent clinical, educational
and research opportunities. All other pediatric specialties are well
represented. Existing referral programs include State of NY designated
centers for pediatric cardiac surgery, transplantation, hemodialysis
and trauma, as well as a pediatric surgery fellowship and a major asthma
center. The Division will be the primary postop caregivers at the University
Hospital for the only pediatric cardiac surgery program in Brooklyn,
and the continued growth of this program is of great importance to the
hospital administration. Coverage at Kings County Hospital will be shared
with an existing four member pediatric pulmonary division. Presently
there are 13 PICU beds and 4 IMCU beds at the 2 hospitals, although
there are long-term plans for new construction.
The successful candidate will receive a full-time academic appointment
in the Department of Pediatrics at SUNY HSCB. A generous guaranteed
compensation package is offered and it is expected that there will be
opportunities to supplement income further through professional billing
as the program develops. Brooklyn contains a variety of excellent residential
neighborhoods and is close enough to live in Manhattan or on Long Island.
Interested parties should contact: Stanley E. Fisher, MD, Professor
and Chairman, Department of Pediatrics SUNY HSCB, Box 49, 450 Clarkson
Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11203 or call (718) 270-1625.

We are seeking applicants for an outstanding pediatric critical care
practice opportunity for **two** pediatric intensivists to join 'Specially
for Children ('SFC), a rapidly growing pediatric multispecialty
group affiliated with the Children's Hospital of Austin (CHOA).
'SFC includes critical care, heme-onc, GI, pulmonary, nephrology, and
neurology specialties. We seek fellowship trained, BE/BC individuals
with excellent credentials and commitment to patient care and program
development. The individuals we are looking for should have the combination
of youth, energy, and experience with a desire/ability to have leadership/administrative

The Austin pediatric medical community is focused and unified behind
the Children's Hospital of Austin, an 82 bed facility serving the rapidly
growing 1.5 million population of a 20+ county area of central Texas.
Our pediatric medical environment thankfully does not suffer from the
fragmentation of care seen in so many urban areas today. The PICU has
20 beds and ~850+ annual admissions, with both ground and helicopter
transport capability.
As you probably know, Austin is a great place to live, so we don't
have to spend a lot of time selling the city/region. Please share this
information with interested individuals and senior fellows. I appreciate

to help. Inquiries including curriculum vitae and reference letters
