Meeting called to order at 4:20 pm.

Introduction of Co-Chairpersons and all committee members.

Each committee member described his/her role as an APN or supervisor of APN’s in his or her PICU.

Purpose of APN committee.

T. Bojko reviewed the purpose of the committee for all new attendees. This committee was formed to explore and help define the role of the APN in pediatric critical care throughout the country.

An APN survey is in process to obtain necessary information needed to reach this goal.

APN Survey

Preliminary results of the survey that was given to PCC APN’s were shared with the group. To date, 53 surveys have been received: 36 from NP’s, 7 from APN’s, and 10 from CNS’s.

The APN and Supervisor Surveys will be mailed to all PICU’s in the U.S. to be completed as indicated. The surveys are also available at http://pedsccm.org/ORG-MEET/ SCCM-PEDS/APN_survey_readme.html

Distribution of APN and Supervisor Surveys

The APN and/or Supervisor Surveys were distributed to all attendees that have not yet completed it. Copies of the surveys were given to attendees to distribute to other APN’s and/or supervisors at their institution.

All surveys are to be returned to Judy Verger CRNP as soon as possible. The results of the survey will be analyzed and distributed to all who participate.

B. Markovitz suggested that an email discussion list be created to facilitate communication between PCC APN’s throughout the country on an on-going basis.

J. Verger, K. Marcoux, and T. Trimarchi to explore this option with B. Markovitz.
