Introduction Bone marrow asp atiintathecal chemotherapy administration (LP) are procedures of short duration that cause pain and an:dety and must be repeated during cancer treatment. Propofol produces a rapid onset of anesthesia and has a short duration of action, making it an ideal agent to facilitate such procedures. We prospectively evaluated our experience in providing propofol anesthesia to ambulatory and hospitalized patients undergoing these procedures in our PICU
Method Patients were electively scheduled to receive propofol anesthesia in the PICU and underwent a medical evaluation and met fasting requirements prior to anesthesia. Full cardiorespii-atory monitoring was performed and support modalities were available during anesthesia. Patients were discharged when Rilly awake and able to ingest liquids. Laformatica prospectively Elected included patient demographics, propofol dose, induction and recovery times and PICU length of stay, occurrence of side eff and use of therapeutic interventions, success of procedure, and presence of recall of the procedure. Values are expressed as mean +- SD. Results were analyzed with Student's t test, linear regression, and Mann Whitney U test
