Burn Fluid Calculator ReadMe

The program has its foundations in PICU where I currently work. It has been working successfully for the last 6 months. The program can be altered to suit local preferences, e.g. feeds, analgesia, sedation, or variations in the fluid calculations on request. An extra charge will apply to modify the program.

The core of the program is based on the Parkland formula for fluid resuscitation in the first 24 hours. The rest of the management that is given is based our current practice. It is intended to give guidelines of management to medical, nursing and paramedical staff not usually exposed to serious burns in the hope that current therapy can be instituted without delay.

I trust that you find the program useful and whether it meets your requirements or not, your comments are always welcome.

Anyone can download the program or copy the program to any other computer but for each individual computer you will have to go through a registration process to make the program into a fully working version.

You can evaluate it once in the first hour providing you don't close the program down after which you must register. You need to email me a key number from the screen. I would then issue a registration number upon payment. The cost per computer would be $20.00 with an extra charge if it needs to be tailored to local preferences.

This a stand alone program and is a self extracting file. It is Windows 95, 98, NT compatible.

There are three files.

• setup .exe
• disk1.dat
• setup.ini

To install the program copy the three files to a new folder on the desktop. Double click on the setup exe file in the new folder and answer yes to all of the prompts. The program has a dynamic registration number and can be viewed for the 1st hour after installation, after which you will need a registration number which will make the program unrestricted.

The program needs to be evaluated in the first hour of use. On entry into the program, follow the "evaluation without registration" button. If you wish to purchase the program close the program down. Reopen it the program click on the registration button and email me the number on screen. Payment details will be forwarded to you. A registration number will be issued upon receipt of payment. If multiple copies are required, payment can be negotiated.

The attachment files can be copied onto a standard floppy disk but each new computer the program is installed to will need to go through the same registration process.

The program comes with an uninstall option should you choose not to need the program; this can be found under program icon in the start menu along with the program Icon. An icon will be created on the desktop where you can also access the program.
